Description:
Graceful small tree with a rounded crown and drooping branchlets. Narrow lanceolate silvery grey-green leaves (phyllodes). Small pale lemon yellow, scented flowers in spring. Flattened seed pods follow.

Cultivation:
Well drained moderately fertile to poorish soil in full sun and a warm position that is not subject to long periods of hard frosts. Prefers silty or sandy soils but will grow in clays. Drought tolerant once established, but will also survive occasional flooding.

Propagation:
From seed, which should first be soaked in very hot water for 24 hours.

Design and Use Notes:
Used ornamentally in hot climates as a substitute for the weeping willow.

Other Notes:
From eastern Australia, usually found in river floodplains.
