Description:
Slow growing, delicately graceful small tree. Very colourful foliage, the young leaves being peach pink with red tints, becoming softer pink and light green. Reaches about 1.8 metres in 10 years.

Cultivation:
Moist, well drained, fertile soil in sun or part shade. Needs a position sheltered from cold winds and late frosts, which can damage emerging foliage. Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late autumn to midwinter.

Propagation:
By grafting in late winter, or bud-grafts in late summer.

Description:
Small deciduous tree. Young leaves are bright golden-yellow, fading to chartreuse-green later. Drooping racemes of yellowish-green flowers in spring, followed by winged fruits.

Cultivation:
Moist, well drained, fertile soil in sun or part shade. Can scorch in hot, dry conditions in summer.
Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late autumn to midwinter. Can also be cut back hard to produce more leafy growth.

Propagation:
By grafting in late winter, or bud-grafts in late summer.

Description:
Ascending branches forming slender high-crowned tree. Smallish lobed leaves. Good Autumn colours. Orange-brown old  bark peeling to reveal cinnamon coloured new bark. Yellow flowers in May and relatively large, winged seeds in autumn.

Cultivation:
Tolerant of chalk soils, but gives best autumn colour on neutral to acid soil. Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late autumn to midwinter.

Description:
Graceful small tree with a rounded crown and drooping branchlets. Narrow lanceolate silvery grey-green leaves (phyllodes). Small pale lemon yellow, scented flowers in spring. Flattened seed pods follow.

Cultivation:
Well drained moderately fertile to poorish soil in full sun and a warm position that is not subject to long periods of hard frosts. Prefers silty or sandy soils but will grow in clays. Drought tolerant once established, but will also survive occasional flooding.

Propagation:
From seed, which should first be soaked in very hot water for 24 hours.

Design and Use Notes:
Used ornamentally in hot climates as a substitute for the weeping willow.

Other Notes:
From eastern Australia, usually found in river floodplains.
